Fall Farmer's Market

Today Waco held its first ever Downtown
Farmer's Market.  It was a huge success.

In addition to finding lots of fresh veggies I also ran into numerous friends loaded down with goodies and on their third or fourth trip to the car.

I bought some fresh pears for this afternoon's Gaia Circle meeting

. . . and some wonderful fresh greens for salads and smoothies.

One of the more fun booths was that provided by the Urban Gardening Coalition where I bought some beautiful Swiss chard grown by the Tennyson Middle School students.

It looks great! I'm so sorry to have missed it. Figures it was the day I left to go out of town. Was there any word of how often they'll have it?

The word is that it will be held every Saturday, even this coming Saturday after Thanksgiving. There is also talk about trying to expand the festivities by including some music and art. Yippee!!

Several vendors, such as the fresh egg person, ran out of stock in the first hour or so.
