Everyday Kindness

As a spot of beauty in an unexpected place can stop one short so, too, can everyday acts of kindness.  My friend, Alice, and I were talking about how these moments should be recorded as a way of both honoring them and making them more easily remembered.  To that end, here's my first "Everyday Kindness" post.

The other day in the grocery store I was grumpily focused on the task of getting what I needed and getting out, grocery shopping being one of my least favorite activities.

Out of the corner of my eye I see an arm coming toward me.  Looking up, there was Tony Golman with his big smile and bright eyes.  He was taking his mother on their weekly shopping trip.  Tapping me on the shoulder he said, "Smile!"

He made my day.

Brenda, I can think of few people who rival you in bringing smiles to the faces of so many. Your keen sense of humor ... your generosity that seems to know no bounds ... the many ways you bring the element of beauty into the world ... YOU are an "act of kindness" personified. Deep gratitude to you, sweet friend!
