The Enneagram . . .

. . . another piece of the human puzzle.
This week I had the unexpected pleasure of attending a two-day Enneagram workshop led by Suzanne Stabile.  This dovetailed nicely with the work done in the Akashic Records the previous weekend.  Synchronicity strikes again.

Enneagram comes from the Greek: ennea meaning nine and gram letter.  Simply, it's an ancient science of transformation which discerns nine basic personality types.  We react to the events of life with one these nine default modes.

The first challenge is to react to these life events at the healthiest range of our number and the second challenge is to recognize that other people are different from us!!!!

It's just that simple and just that difficult.

What's useful about Enneagram work is that it can be transformational in one's life.  Life can be easier.  Understanding the default modes of family, friends, political leaders, etc. takes the heat out of our differences and replaces it with understanding.

For me, the truth of the Enneagram is how nicely it dovetails with the world's wisdom traditions.  Different words but similar concepts.  Practicing mindfullness leads to understanding of self and others.  Understanding leads to more peaceful interactions.  It can really be that simple.  The difficulty is staying present when one comes up against the inevitable stresses and strains of life.  But having a conceptual framework for action makes it easier to react in the healthiest default mode available to one.

In case you're wondering, I'm a 5 on the Enneagram.  That's in the Head Triad.  It's all about the information, don't you know.  BookTV and History Channel here I come.

A good website for Enneagram background and testing is

Try it.  It's fun and illuminating.

So glad you're helping to get the Enneagram info "out there," Brenda! It is, indeed, a marvelous tool that allows one to look at difficult situations (and people!) with compassionate eyes. It also helps us to get in touch with our pure soul essance if we will just "do the work." You're so right: It's that easy ... and that difficult. But at least the Enneagram makes it FUN!
